variety of food for mws

Due to differences in geographical location, people from different countries of the world have different eating habits. Different cuisines and dishes may be different in different districts of the same country.

Some people like to eat rice-fish. Someone likes bread. Again, some people like to eat half cooked food. People's taste in food depends on the eating habits of the regions and countries and cultures. After eating the same food for a long time, many people can no longer be able to adjust with different eating habit.

Again, those who have to travel to different countries or come to different places for work can get used to many kinds of eating habits. but in this case, it requires time to adapt or adjust a food habit. So, no one can suddenly change their eating habits. Gradually one has to adapt to the new food from new environment. Otherwise it will have a physiological and psychological effects on human life. It is not easy to change a habit like food that peoples life are depends onto it.

Following the outbreak of the corona virus in Singapore, the government has announced a lockdown of the dormitories. At the same time, the government has announced that all workers will be paid during their stay in the dormitory and will be provided with food. It is natural that there will be some problems in providing food to this huge number of workers. Even so, the Government is successful in this aspect.

Bangladeshis and Indians like to eat spicy curry with rice and pickle. But in their supply of food, they were not considered nationalities in some way. Many workers have been given half-cooked vegetables with little rice which they are not accustomed to eating. I am not questioning the quality or nutritional value of these foods and I have no doubt about it.

But Bangladeshis and Indians are not accustomed to eating these foods and many have thrown them in the dustbin. Several of my migrant brothers have updated photos of these “foods in dustbin’” in different groups on Facebook, complaining about that.

But I am saddened to know that some gentlemen (?) have used the inaudible language under those post in comments. Some have said that the whole world is in a crisis.

Many times, we have to adapt to the situation without thinking about likes and dislikes and to survive in the flow of time. Sometimes there is no chance to make a choice. Everyone has their own world of thought, there is no need to be in harmony with others but If your opinion sounds better than others, you can argue with them but not abuse him. You must not do that! You can’t, you have not right to do that. Otherwise its very easy to be a “John behind the Keyboard”. I have to say something for them, who are asking us for the sake of this critical situation, to Bangladeshi and Indian workers to adapt to the habit of half-cooked curry and a little rice.

Singapore is a multinational country where people from many countries of the world come and work, make a living and have a large number of tourists. And so, there is a variety of food here, there are many Japanese, Italian, Korean, Indonesian, Malaysian and many restaurants here. And Singaporeans can eat almost all kinds of food.

But many workers have not been able to adapt to the varied diet after spending 10 to 12 years in Singapore. How is it possible to be so far living in Singapore, you must be wondering? Surprisingly, waking up at five in the morning, returning from work at eight at night, taking a bath, washing clothes, and cleaning the room, doing all this it becomes the time to sleep.

And there is no accounting for how many workers work overtime in holidays. And if there is no overtime, he will not be able to save money for that month.

Most of the workers' dormitories are located in remote areas. And so, who can’t afford to go to the food court to taste a variety of food, can not adapt still after 10 years here. And because workers can't adapt, a gentleman like you (?) can come to the comment box and say, ‘if you don't like the variety of food, you must go back to your own country.’ If the workers could go back to their countries, they would not wait for your comment. So before you ask for adopt the situation think properly " Have they ever had a chance to adapt to the situation?"

There is no doubt that the Singapore Government has taken enough initiative to deal with the Corona situation. Every worker is being provided with quality medical care. Salary is being confirmed even after staying in the dormitory. We are certainly grateful to the Government of Singapore for this.

In addition to the government, many NGOs and voluntary organizations have come to the side of the workers, some of whom are also helping out at the individual level. Hopefully, with the joint efforts of all, we will be able to overcome this disaster very soon.
